Welcome to IPC Men's Ministries

As God opens His heart to all we welcome you to join us in fellowship with other men as we gather to give praise and glory to God. IPC Men's Ministry is the active pursuit of men in order to connect them to God, His Word, and to other men for the purpose of winning, growing, and training to become God's man in Christ.

We know one thing for sure -- God will use the heart and life of anyone who chooses to make himself available to Him. The Bible says, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." This is the great commission spoken by Jesus Himself.

In other words, Jesus Christ is commissioning His followers to go into the entire world and reproduce believers.

This is a big calling.

Mission Statement:

"The Men in Service to Jesus Christ at IPC are Committed to Know Him, to Grow in Him and to Share Him".

Saturday, June 14th Breakfast... Check it out!
Standing Room Only for IPC Men!
As usual, these guys were out early to prepare and serve. It goes without saying that all of the men in attendance gave a great thank you to the cooks and servers who provided a hearty breakfast for all.
Also, big thanks to all who helped set up before and straightened up the hall afterward.

This was one of the best attended men's breakfasts in several years, to the point that the hard-working kitchen crew ran out of pancakes!

Nearly 120 IPC men, sons, fathers and friends rousted themselves early on this beautiful Saturday morning to enjoy fellowship, singing and to hear radio host, blogger, and "Hardcore Conservative" Hugh Hewitt speak about a "Clash of Civilizations."
Mark Armando led the men in several songs, which sounded especially good with 100+ voices of this ad-hoc chorus doing their best to carry a tune lifting glory to God.

Rick Caille opened the proceedings by introducing Hugh Hewitt, but several IPC men "helped" with the introductions by sharing several stories of Hugh's adventures and misadventures. Bud Thoreen spoke of Hugh's excellent skills walking on drywall in his attic. Luke Wood offered how nice it was to hear Hugh speak at the "Primetimer's" luncheon recently, proposing that Hugh was most likely there considering it was time he joined the "Seniors" group. Others mentioned mishaps experienced while on a cruise to Athens, Greece, led by Hugh. Hugh took in all in stride and we all had plenty of laughter.
Hugh, however, had perhaps the last laugh when he reminded the crowd that "less than 48 hours from now it will be 3:00 p.m. on Monday and over two million people will hear MY version of these stories!"
               ............
On a more serious note, John Dietz told everyone how Hugh, through his radio show is helping "Caring for China" ministry to gather, at last count, over $100,000 in relief funds for victims of the recent massive earthquake that has devestated China.
Before beginning his presentation, Hugh introduced Paul Siaki, one of IPC's mission partners in South Africa. Paul spoke for a few minutes of the good work being done with assistance from IPC in that country. We are all anxious to here Paul preach at IPC on Sunday, July 6th.

More information about Paul and his ministry is available on the IPC "Africa Mission Outreach" pages of our website.
Hugh then spoke about the current state of our world, referencing several books he believes belong in everyone's library, including: Legacy of Ashes, by Tim Weiner, a history of the CIA; The Looming Tower, by Lawrence Wright; and a history of Al Qaeda, America Alone by Mark Steyn.

Every man in the room was fully engaged by Hugh's talk and the impact that clashing, diverse civilizations and religions are having and will continue to have over the next 50 or more years... More about Hugh and this mornings topic can be found on Hugh's Website.

More pictures from the morning... Enjoy!!!

The Tentmakers is a camping group for fathers and their children. A place where families can make new friends and kids can have fun with their fathers in the great outdoors.

The purpose of this group is to inspire fathers to guide their children in the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ through lessons learned in the outdoors, devotional time with dad, and lessons taught at meetings.

At campouts we will enjoy God’s Creation while hiking where we can teach our children to appreciate what He has given for us to enjoy and take care of.

At home we will have monthly meetings to teach our kids about Christian living through lessons, songs, games, and activities. We will also have several service opportunities throughout the year to put all that we experience into action.
Check out The Tentmakers Website for complete details!

                Cyril and Gabrielle Thomas

Some of IPC's longest serving mission partners are Cyril and Gabrielle Thomas of Caring For China. They started sending English teachers into southern China in the early 1980's, just after the Cultural Revolution. Soon, there were teachers all over the country, sharing the gospel as their students asked about their lives. On Christmas Day in 1990, several teachers decided to volunteer at a local orphanage in Central China, hoping to spread some cheer to the babies and children there. What they found was heartbreaking.

Elise, Christina and Elle at an Orphanage

The teachers prayed that somehow God would rescue the children from such a desperate situation. Four years later, their prayers were answered when the authorities asked the teachers if their organization would consider setting up a model orphanage that would bring the orphanage up to international standards and prepare the children for adoption. This was the beginning of the work with orphanages and CFC now helps manage 3 facilities in Central China.

Many of the children have medical issues or are disabled. In 1997, a medical program was started to meet their needs. Today the healthcare team is partnered with a local hospital and CFC has half a floor of a hospital, including an operating room. In 2005, a group of 40 IPC members visited China and got to see firsthand the work in the orphanages and meet the volunteers.

Today, Caring For China still recruits and places teachers in China. The orphanages are running well and the Healthcare program is reaching out to local villages to teach preventive medicine that they hope will result in fewer abandoned babies with birth defects. Adult training for special needs children is being administered and older children with special needs are being taught vocational skills through Caring For China programs.

        Serving with

        Wycliffe Bible Translators

In the Republic of the Philippines

I (Rex) grew up here in Orange County. I lived in Buena Park. While I was at Southern California College (Vanguard) I was in a Biblical Studies program, studying Greek and Hebrew. I had to take a missions class for my major. I never thought of myself as a missionary type, but saw that Wycliffe was different, with the translation emphasis. While praying if this was where the Lord was leading me, Wycliffe reps came to the school for a whole week. Coincidence? No! The biggest reason I'm a part of Wycliffe is I believe in what Wycliffe is about (general) and the part I play with them (specific). What I do makes a difference. Some ask why do I typeset academic material. There is a lot I could say here, but the organization's academic excellence has opened doors into countries we wouldn't be working in today.

I (Susan) joined Wycliffe as an itinerant teacher in Africa and worked in Togo, Benin, Ghana, and Cameroon for 4 years and then went to the Philippines to teach at Faith Academy for 2 years before coming back to Huntington Beach to work at Wycliffe as a personnel administrator and to retrain as a counselor - which is where I met Rex and the kids :o) We married in 1997 and joined IPC at that time. Rex was a translator but because I'd had back surgery after my time in the Philippines and couldn't handle the rough roads to do to most village translation sites, Rex retrained to do typesetting - so we both had support roles, working with translators so they could focus on translation while we took care of other time consuming chores (like typesetting and home schooling and such).

The kids were born in the Philippines and seem to feel more at home there, it was a great school situation. Micah is taking a gap year after graduating from Faith Academy and plans to enroll at Vanguard in the fall. Cayla is a freshman at Katella HS. We will return this summer (end of June) for 3 years when Cayla graduates.

It's rewarding to be involved in people's lives and have a small part in fulfilling the Great Commission - we could do that anywhere I suppose but I am content to be in the Philippines for this.

Feedback from Jon Dietz:

There were some cracks observed in the orphanage buildings in Xi'an and Hanzhong (In Shaanxi, the neighboring province to Sichuan). There were no injuries to any of the children or staff, although they are all sleeping in tents outside the buildings until they are inspected and approved to go back inside. One of the surrounding walls to the orphanage did collapse in Hanzhong, but fortunately no one was hurt. We have received many emails from China and many of the supporters of our organization have been anxious about the facilities, so we have been sending out the following compilation of quotes. Also, we have set up an Earthquake Relief Fund at our website http://www.CaringForChina.org and the response has been overwhelming. This started when Hugh Hewitt asked me if we could be a channel for relief, and I said, yes, we do have the infrastructure - so he has been telling folks on his radio show to contact us and he put links on his website at www.hughhewitt.com - and we've been responding to emails and sending out receipts ever since! As you know, CFC is only a small nonprofit and yet the heartfelt sympathy and willingness to contribute financially that so many Americans are showing makes me very proud. When China decided to open its doors to throw the world a party for the Olympics this summer, they did not expect that door to let in the criticism that comes with being on the world stage. Hopefully now they will see that the same door also leads to another part of our western culture - an immediate, tangible response of compassion and resources in times of trouble.

Our medical team in China is assisting in any ways they can, and we hope to send the first wire of funds over at the end of this week. It seems like the need right now is for basics: food, water, and blankets. One of our English Teachers (an American named Allison) has organized a blanket 'drop' where people can donate their extra blankets and she has arranged shipment to the epicenter for them. Everyone is doing what they can, but I'm sure it is a little overwhelming when you get closer to the heavily damaged areas.

The following feedback was received from our mission partners in China regarding the recent earthquake.

From Cyril and Gabrielle (founders/directors of the organization in China)

"As far as we can gather none of our people have been injured by the earthquake... The children in Hope Haven (in Xi'an) & Shekinah Shalom (HZ) have all been evacuated to tents outside because of fear of more shocks. The children in Hephzibah (Xi'an) have all been evacuated to the ground floor of the Living Waters building. Everyone seems to be handling the situation very well although there is ongoing concern in the region about more shocks."

From the American Orphanage worker in HZ:

" In HZ CD, we (staff and children) are all fine, but our Child Care Centre deputy manager (PXJ)'s aunt in HZ was killed when a wall collapsed on her. We are sad about that.
All is going well here; everyone is cooperating beautifully. The staff of the family group homes and the nursery have chosen to live in tents (provided by the govt welfare center) the last two nights. They feel more secure and, at this point, peace of mind seems the most important consideration, since the weather has been fine. We did notice cracks in some walls of Bethel (family group homes) and Morning Dew (nursery, rehab, and office building), but no other damage. There have been several minor after-shocks. People in HZ have not experienced earthquakes, and the major 7.8 one in Sichuan Province was 4.5 in HZ. That was quite scary for many, although staff handled themselves and their responsibilities very well."

From our Irish-American worker in HZ:

"We are doing well. People are just frightened more than anything. The only damage in the orphanage is that a wall that goes around the buildings fell down.

So nothing major. The babies and carers are all outside in tents. The Bethel Children are all in living in the ground floor so its easier to get out.

We are thankful that we are much better off than the people in Sichuan. It's really bad there and thousands have been killed. "

From an American worker in Chengdu:
The earthquake was over 25 hours ago, and we are still feeling aftershocks. One of them (a little while ago) lasted a full minute and I could hear panicked people outside. Those little aftershocks are big triggers for adrenalin. After I finally got to sleep last night (this morning), I did pretty well with it (from dawn until noon). I'm off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (and I have to work every Saturday and Sunday), so I don't have to go back to work until Thursday. (I heard the public schools in ChengDu are closed today.) It seems death and destruction occurred near ChengDu, but not so much in ChengDu (but I heard that some old buildings came down). A friend in Texas recommended Psalm 46. I like it! It's hard to imagine that all that violent shaking and swaying would not cause this (and other buildings) building to topple (or crumble), but after reading Psalm 46 it makes sense.

From a teacher in Chengdu:

I felt a small tremor a few minutes ago, but it was nothing. This is the first one I've felt since yesterday late afternoon. I think things are settling down now. Classes have been cancelled until further notice, so my guess is that I will return to work on Monday next week. It will be good to get out of the flat. It rained all day yesterday, but today, it isn't.

From our friend in Beijing whose dad is a professor at the univ. in HZ:
My family is well at this moment and luckily there was no serious damages to the houses we have. Eric sent me a message saying he's okay with the earthquake, just caught a cold, and I have already brought your sincere wishes to him.

From Joanna's Dad, who talked on the phone with her:
Students at the university where Jo lives and teaches were outside, frightened, unfamiliar with such a massive earthquake. Some of the buildings were damaged...and some of the students injured. Phone service was interrupted, power went out... Later, Jo went back in to get some blankets, water, and food--and ended up spending the night outside with all the other students/staff (about 8,000 students plus faculty, staff--probably more than 10,000). Joanna has been told that they will be sleeping outside for at least 5 more nights! Her friend, Cheris joined her about an hour later. She was able to go from the city where she lives to the country where the university is (about 40 miles away) safely and quickly.

[Joanna lives and works on the North Campus of SUT which is in the mountains north of HZ city, so we're thinking that's why they felt the earthquake worse than in town]

Where can I go from your Spirit ? Where can I flee from your presence ? If I go up to the heavens, you are there. If I make my bed in the depths, you are there (Psalm 139:7-8)

As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in the mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the maker of all things. (Ecclesiastes 11:5)

Welcome to Women's Ministries at IPC
Our theme this year has been "Resting in God." It came from committee members who wanted all of us to take the time to enjoy the pleasure of being in the presence of God. While in the presence of God we can rest completely on the truth that we are beloved children of the Lord. "Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty." Psalm 91:1

Each event has been organized with an endeavor to make women feel welcomed and loved when they attend. Feel free to contact any of our volunteer coordinators if you have questions, comments, ideas, and concerns or would like to join us in service.

As Jamie finishes her two year term as coordinator and leaves for some well-deserved relaxation in the sun and sand at the New Jersey Shore, Pastor Barbara and Jo Anne will be praying and listening for God’s leading while planning for the coming year. Meanwhile, check out the links above for a few ways to keep you hydrated during the long days of summer.

Women in the Word begins Wednesday, July 9th, featuring “God Stories” from six amazing IPC women.

A wonderful summer retreat with Lauretta Patterson is planned for August 22nd & 23rd, on the theme “Leaning into Living.”

For some casual fun and creativity, we will host three nights of “Ladies Time Out” scrapbooking.

And of course, Mommie Time has a very full summer schedule of outings to keep you and your preschooler giggling and exploring.

As a leadership team, we look forward to another year of growing together in the love of God, trusting Him with our whole hearts, serving as disciples and rejoicing together as we live in the peace of resting in the palm of His hands. "For God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to his purpose for them." Romans 8:28
	  Happy Summer & God Bless,

Experience the benefits of joining other moms for fellowship, education, and relaxation. Mommie Time nurtures women as we share the unique challenges of being mothers to young children.
Mommie Time attendees are diverse in many ways. Some are members of IPC, and some are not. Some live nearby, others drive quite a distance to be a part of the group. Some are happily married, some are in struggling marriages and others are single Moms. There are first time Moms, soaking up all the information they can get, as well as Moms with several children. Everyone benefits from Mommie Time!

          Meetings...
Our regular regular meetings during the school year include childcare so we may devote this short time together to God, ourselves, and our sisters while our children play, snack, laugh and learn with their Mommie Time friends under careful supervision of our professional childcare workers and volunteers.

We meet every other Thursday at IPC in the Jack Davis Room from 9:00 - 11:30 am with outings on the alternate Thursdays.

During the summer vacation periods we do not meet at IPC but schedule a series of outings. Summer 2008 Calendar

        Women's Ministries Steering Committee...

From the Women's Ministries Steering Committee (WMSC).
"Our vision for women's ministries is to provide programs where women in fellowship will hear and grow in God's Word in a loving and nurturing environment."
In order to accomplish the tasks of this vision, as a committee, we meet monthly to oversee all the events and programs that are sponsored by women's ministries. Once a year, we take part in a one-day retreat that helps us to focus in on our calling as leaders in our ministries. We are a resource of help and support to one another, we keep each other accountable in our work, and we enjoy the benefits of joyful fellowship as we seek to serve Christ in this church. Welcome to the IPC Worship Survey...
"Worship is our response to God, in which we offer to God our praise, adoration, gratitude, and most of all, ourselves. When we worship, we pray—in word and in song, in sound and in silence, in action and in stillness. God is the primary audience of our worship: the King of Kings who receives our submission, the Father who receives our love, the Savior who receives our confession, the Redeemer who receives our thanks." (Quote from IPC’s “Basics for Worship,” web page)
The IPC Worship Committee would like to know how we are doing at IPC in providing opportunities for the kind of worship gathering described above. Will you please respond to the Survey questions and give us any and all feedback you think will be helpful as we continue to provide a place for you and our neighbors to encounter the living God together?
This current survey will be available until July 25, 2008
Although this process is completely anonymous, there are optional opportunities at the end of the survey to provide your contact information. This will allow us to reach you for additional input if the need arises. You may also include a note at the end requesting a contact, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

To begin the survey please click the link below. Upon completion, click on the "Submit" icon and you will be returned to the IPC Home Page.
      BEGIN SURVEY
      Thank you for your participation..!

Dan Korneychuk

IPC Director of Worship, Music and the Arts

             Welcome to IPC Men's Ministries...

Watch this page for the date of our next breakfast...

Enjoy!!!

               Men's Small Groups

A great way to grow in your faith is to connect with other men for the purpose of community, accountability, confession and prayer. New groups are forming and exisitng groups are looking for more to add.

  Childcare...

Childcare, including nursery & toddlers, is always provided for Sunday morning, Sunday evening and special worship services. Most Bible studies and other church activities provide childcare by reservation. Our childcare team is lead by first aid trained and CPR certified staff. We are committed to providing the safest possible environment and seek to ensure that your child is always in competent and loving hands. Sunday School...

Classes for 3 year olds through 6th graders meet during the 9:00 am and 10:30 am worship services. Our objective is to grow disciples who love God and neighbor, practice the spiritual disciplines of prayer and worship, participate in acts of service and mercy, and who are Biblically literate.

Note: Different curricula are used at each of our weekend church school sessions. Children who attend more than one session will not repeat lesson materials or learning experiences. Children's Choirs...

A Winter Retreat for 5th - 6th graders and Summer Camp for 3rd - 6th graders are offered at Forest Home Christian Conference Center each year. Members of our high school and college groups serve as counselors, offering an opportunity for our children to develop deep, personal relationships with faithful young adults while also building lasting friendships with their peers. Special activities tied to church and calendar seasons are planned throughout the year for children and their families. Included are a Harvest Celebration, Thanksgiving Worship, Family Christmas Festival, Ash Wednesday Worship and supper, Easter Celebration and a 6th grade graduation celebration.. A wild, wacky, wonderful week of holy commotion! In July, 3 year olds through 6th graders gather for music, skits, Bible stories, crafts, recreation and a light supper. Kids can expect to find fun, friends and faith at this not-to-be-missed summer adventure! Ongoing Registration...
