Servanthood
God has blessed us so richly by equipping us with the tools and provisions needed to support ourselves and to grow His Kingdom. On October 1st 50 men gathered at San Clemente Presbyterian Church for a day of fellowship and to hear God's word through our speaker Dave Gundlach, Teaching Pastor at Grace Fellowship Church. We were quickly reminded how God has given us our skills and talents to support ourselves, our family and to serve and honor Him. As Dave mentioned, so often we lean on being too self-fulfilling with the skills and talents He has given us…but what God asks of us is to demonstrate our faith in Jesus by using our gifts to grow His kingdom.
The parable of the talents, Matthew 25: 14-30, reminds us not to bury our God given talents but to realize that He wants us to manage them…using them to serve Him. And when Jesus fed 5,000 he did it with just 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish (Mark 6:30-44)…so Dave asked us "what would it look like to step out in faith with your 5 loaves and 2 fish and serve others?"
While God's message on "Servanthood" was a blessing, we were also blessed by the presence of 5 young men from the Orange County Rescue Mission who have been challenged by the uncertainties of life. It was wonderful to experience how each of these men were welcomed by their IPC brothers in Christ. As the men mingled you could see God's hand at work joining us all together with loving and caring hearts…a true demonstration of the gift of kindness that God has given us.
So let's be reminded to step out in faith using the skills and talents God has given us by serving Him.
In Christ,
